New release: TI 68K program editor (TI-BASIC)

Unread postby compsystems » 14 Nov 2014, 23:07

Hi, there is http://home.arcor.de/p-engels/tiedit/ a new release of tiedit, you can now convert a Unicode format, ti68k programas, to be then paste in the computer editor software of ti-nspire/CAS :#fou#:

I wish enthusiasts to improve this application

for example

0: to send files to the emulator online
1: Incorporate an editor dialog boxes as does daisuke-tieditor
2: Collapsed/expand blocks of code and so does daisuke-tieditor
3: Write Unicode format
4: ...

Er, which online emulator ?

I wish the application was made easier to improve by:
* providing the sources of the modified libticables directly from that page;
* packaging the source code of TIEdit in a sane, interoperable format, such as ZIP. I know that TI-Edit is purely a Windows application, partially due to Tokens89 being what it is, but still, a Windows EXE file (!) is a poor way to package source code.

The idea is that tiedit transfer files to the following ti68k emulator

as well as a online version of TIedit

* two-way communication between a browser and applications / filesystem on the local host has always been intentionally made hard, for security reasons. WebSockets lowered the barrier, but users would still need to download, install and run on the local host a program that acts as a WebSockets server on the one side, and as some implementation of TI calculator protocols on the other side. The emulator would have to try and connect to the WebSockets server on the local host... which may bring origin-related trouble, unless users download and install the Web-based emulator locally as well.
It's not the first time the idea of a socket-based gateway (here, WebSockets, but regular sockets would be even more interoperable) for libticables is mentioned, and it would be useful beyond the JS TI-68k emulator. However, that doesn't exist at the time of this writing, and there is clearly insufficient user interest...

* like jsTIfied, SourceCoder is tied onto the Cemetech infrastructure. Therefore, even with TI-68k support, SourceCoder wouldn't be an online version of TI-Edit.
Unlike jsTIfied, the TI-68k JS emulator created by Patrick Davidson, which I largely expanded and critor integrated into the TI-Planet archives system, exists in full-featured, standalone form, as described in our news items. But nobody cares about that TI-68k emulator...

I think there are many enthusiasts even calculators ti68k, the emulator port to android'os (GRAPH89) is a success in downloads, I see it installed on various mobile devices in my Univerisidad

https://play.google.com/store/apps/deta ... tion&hl=es

There are yet developers interested in writing programs

Graph89 might be slightly popular, but the JS TI-68k emulator isn't... It's less polished than jsTIfied is, but it wouldn't be as popular anyway, as the TI-68k series has always been much less popular than the TI-Z80 series, due to counter-productive exam regulations in most countries.

The features list is getting better and better, it's too bad that like the other TI-68k program editors, TI-Edit remains based on that terrible, non-portable Tokens89 spaghetti code.

I think it is easier to write a new file to convert from ASCII to format binary (TI68k), who can créate?
Also would be encoded in Unicode for not using specialized text fonts as ti89jb.ttf and share "visible" code in a discussion forum
