There is no code. It's done by hand.
And I don't believe a program does that ... (because it's just plain rewriting/factoring)

The next steps are to notice it's equal to p*sqrt(2). I haven't really looked but it's probably the same : rewriting/simplifying

Not even that, it's simply something like x*x = x^2, then recongnize cos(45°)
