Anyone else know about this?
It could indeed be used to cheat in certain cases. Basically, if you hold down the reset button for 3 seconds while the calculator is turned off in Press-To-Test, the LED light will stop blinking. As if the calculator goes into a deep sleep mode.

Yes.
(The "Deep Sleep" mode is actually called Ship mode, because it's what is used when the calcs get shipped, in order to reduce battery consumption to a minimum)
