How to reset TI-Nspire CX CAS???

Message non lude mgscrewu » 10 Mai 2012, 15:07

Hi, I don´t know whether I´m on the right section or not (because I don´t understand french :s )... Well I´m having some bit bugs after "installing" ndless.
I mean, I´ve tried to install it, but it failed (showed me some errors, so I deleted the ndeless_resourses... BAD THING!), then it has minor bugs like slow down when turning it off, and the cursor was a bit buggy, and in the calc app upper line (below where says scratchpad) was wrong (I don´t know how to explain it, but it isn´t important anyway, it was something I noticed before doing that)...

BUT the most annoying bug is that after 90 sec, when the brightness slow down, it starts to blink...

After that I tried by myself pressing the reset button, but it stayed on a loop state of reset... I fixed it deleting the OS and reinstaling it...

But however I did this, it has the same bugs... SO... all this intro to ask this :#langue#: My question is, how can I reset it as it came from fabric?

Thankss :)

I guess you used the maintenance menu in order to do this, but then I read this ...
But however I did this, it has the same bugs... SO... all this intro to ask this My question is, how can I reset it as it came from fabric?
... and there is no deeper way to restore fabric setting than that, or at least use the complete reformat option in the maintenance menu (you loose your documents then). But anyway.

yeap, I guess I´ve used that menu, What I did was, when it was in the rest-loop, pressed ee+doc+enter+on, and game me 4 options... I´ve selected the 4th one, the complete reformat... then It asked me to reinstall the OS, and I donwloaded from the webpage...
But, the problem is, at the first middle when the calc starts, it shows some white lines while charging.. I donp´t know how to explain this... but if needed, I´ll make a video in order that you can see what the problems are...

So, there´s nothing else I can do apart of what I did?? :(

I also have some moving lines on the screen during the 1st part of the boot (Boot1), as if the screen refresh frequency was bad.

But no further problem.

I´ve alredy done the battery thing... and the boot1 thing, when I´ve turned on for the first time it was perfect, after doing this started with that... but it isn´t annoying anyway... the only thing that bothers me is the screen blinking when the brightness slow down, and the fact that it is a bit slower when turning of (a clock starts charging (and before the ndless thing just turned off inmediatelly)....
Thats why I guess that something is causing troubles yet..
Thats why I thought there was a deeper thing I could do to restart as fabric

IMHO there is no deeper way than all of that ... it is to my mind a hardware problem...
Is it still under warranty ?

I´ve bought it less than a week ago jaja... But I can´t do nothing, I´ve bought to someone in the USA, and I´m from latin america :s ... But the weird thing is, if it was perfect, and after deleting the ndless_resources the problems started, why can´t this be solved with a simple OS reinstall...
I mean, what does this hack to the calc? appart from not working for me (It didn´t instal) I had problems... Anyway it must be just some soft issues...

Should I try to restore it again? or will this be worst?
If yes, Which is better.. the option 1 (delete de OS) or 4 (complete reformation) , and then reinstall it... I´ll now make a video showing you the issues :P
EDIT: I did it, but it isn´t worth it, you wouldn´t see the difference, just looking carefully it can be appreciated

EDIT2: Another thing, now lets go to the heart of the problem :P ... why couldn´t I install the ndless, I´ve OS 3.1.0.392, I´ve created a folder called ndless and in it put the ndless_resources.tns, and the the ndless instaler
(but to be honest, I did this twice, the first time I did it wrong :#roll#: I just installed the "installer", without having syncroniced the ndless_resources.tns, It returned me an error obviously, and then tryed again but this time in the right way, could that be causing troubles?)

The error says, something about the calculator doesn´t found, I beleive.. :s I don´t remember actually.... but are the steps I did correct? or I forgot sthg?

To be honest it is the first time that ndless could affect the hardware layer. In any cases of bugs and non-boting calc was due to the software layer. The complete reformat option allow you to purge the sofware layer. The only thing that is still present as software but that Ndless doesn't affect, is the boot2. I have no idea personnally on how reformat the boot2 without a RS232 (TTL) adaptater in order to use the dock at the bottom as a formatting tool. I've already done that with critor, it's long and precise ...

What about going to the diags software, which will put another part of the memory into a proper state, and might also allow detecting some hardware weaknesses ?
