Re: OS update
If it doesn't want to show you the usual "Nspire" logo and its loading bar, then it means there is a problem with the boot1.
I've double-checked the image I sent you and it's ok.
It's allready been used to mod tens of Nspire prototypes into production models.
For some reason, it then seems your prototype was different.
You should try to contact the seller, who shouldn't have sold such a prototype, or TI-Cares from Texas Instruments.
For a small fee, TI-Cares does exchange prototypes (even bricked prototypes) with commercial models.

Re: OS update
Ok - the logo without the square means your development Boot1 has been successfully updated to the production Boot1.
The 1st of both required steps succeeded.
But, what you've just said bothers me and might mean the Boot2 has not been updated correctly...
Do you have an "install OS" or any other message below the loading bar ?
Do you have an icon (gears or any other sign) below the loading bar?

Re: OS update
It seems your calculator is just automatically launching its diagnostics software.
We're going to fix that.
Let's perform the following steps:
- remove a battery
- wait some secs and insert it back - but don't turn on the calculator
- press and hold the 3 following keys:
![[G] :nsg:](./images/smilies/nspire/nsg.png)
- without releasing the previous keys, press![[on] :nson:](./images/smilies/nspire/ns_on.png)
You should get a different screen, and the calculator shouldn't turn off.
If that's the case, just remove a battery, insert it back, and the calculator should boot normally.
