The square means you have a prototype, and not a "regular" Nspire, and it is why you have these troubles installing OS >1.2

Now another people (maybe critor) will tell you what to do as I don't really know prototypes

Ok, Comtiral - don't worry.

You've bought a prototype, and currently you can't upgrade it to OS 1.3 or later.

But fortunately, I've developped a 100% software-way to mod them into production models and published it some weeks ago.

You'll then be able to upgrade it to OS 3.1 without any problem

You first need to have a working version of the TI-Nspire Computer Link software.
Is that the case? Which version are you using? (help -> about)

Then, you need to install the special Ndless 1.2 version for prototypes. (Computer Link software needs to be closed during this process)

This is the more tricky step.
Feel free to ask us for help - you might have to retry the installation several times.

After that, there are some additional easy steps I'll tell you about

Not TI-Nspire CAS Student Software but TI-Nspire Computer Link Software. Notice the difference.
It is an old communication software that is not developped by TI anymore. You can find it on TI-Planet. (what version critor ?)

Ok, we'll have to deal with the TI-Nspire Computer Link/Student eventually.

But, one last question before we process, which could avoid us going through the whole modding process.

Do you have a "Developer Unit" folder in the root of your TI-Nspire?
Could you list us all root-folders?
