TI Nspire CX (rev AD) Problem - boot loop

Message non lude matt2431 » 17 Sep 2018, 23:24

So I was trying to follow this guide: https://www.reddit.com/r/nspire/comments/6a2cd7/tutorial_install_cas_on_tinspire_cx_works_on/

I later realized that that guide was not valid for AD models and I realized that too late. I messed up my NAND partitions on my calculator and now it doesn't work at all and it is in a constant boot loop. I tried booting the maintenance menu and I tried to reformat my calculator but even then that still doesn't work. It always reboots in the loading screen when starting up and when doing the reformat.

Any ideas on how I can make the reformat work and fix my calculator?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Indeed, the up-to-date guide for your AD hardware revision is this one :
viewtopic.php?f=57&t=21094

But just repartitioning shouldn't have been enough to brick the calculator.

Does something special happen if you hold :nses: :nsme: :nsmo: before a reboot ?

I replaced the Boot 1.5 on the calculator with a Boot 2 because I thought that would make Ctrl-X work, but I was wrong and it messed my calculator up.

When I tried to hold :nses: :nsme: :nsmo: nothing would happen. But if I press :nsdo: :nsen: :nsee: it can go into maintenance mode. None of the maintenance menu options do anything successful.

Is there any way to install boot 1.5 back on the calculator while it is like this? Like flashing it via usb or anything like that. Computer link doesn't work to reinstall the operating system because it never successfully boots up.

Any help would be awesome but if there's nothing to be done to fix it then I guess I will learn from this $140 mistake.

Boot1.5 is pretty useless, since it just loads and runs the Boot2. Overwriting it with a Boot2 just makes booting faster.
So I don't really understand why it reboot-loops so far.

What happens exactly when you choose to remove the OS in the maintenance menu ?

Also, you could try to hold the reset button for several seconds, and then turn on the calculator.

Whenever I tried to remove the OS or reformat the calculator it would reboot to the splashscreen and load for like 1 second and then continue to reboot in a loop.

I tried to hold the reset button and turn on the calculator but right now my calculator is low on battery. It doesn't want to charge and when I hold :nsdo: :nsen: :nsee: it says to replace the batteries and try again.

I left the calculator plugged in overnight but it still says its low on battery.
