Do you think that your Nspire is too slow? It was possible to boost it through an overclock with our Nover 2 tool.

Overclocking means increasing the chips frequency.
It has been used by Texas Instruments on TI-Nspire Clickpad/TouchPad, as the initial processor frequency was 90MHz and has been increased to 120MHz since OS version 2.1, giving a performance boost of 33,3%.

:bj:
Nover was allowing you:
 • to increase the processor frequency of your TI-Nspire ClickPad/TouchPad even more at 150MHz! :bj:
 • to increase the processor frequency of your TI-Nspire CX/CM from 132 to 220-240MHz, giving a 66-82% performance boost! :bj:

Image

:bj:
On TI-Nspire ClickPad/TouchPad, it was really easy: you just had to put all frequencies to the maximum and it worked directly! :bj:

On TI-Nspire CX/CM, it was something else since the maximum processor frequency of 378MHz is unstable, and according to reviews and tests on different calculators, the maximum stable frequency is between 220 and 240MHz. You had thus to follow a tutorial in order to determine the highest stable frequency.

The new Nover 3 version tonight thus has great improvements - as you don't even need to follow the tutorial anymore, nor to know anything about overclocking. :)
And thus, Nover 3 seeks the best stable overclocking for your calculator by itself! :bj:
You just have to put it in the Ndless startup folder, reboot your calculator and after a few minutes the best overclock configuration is detected and saved ! :D

The automated search follows the tutorial steps, using the safest seeking-way. Your calculator may reboot or freeze while doing the automated search, and it's normal since the program tests if the current configuration is stable. Those (two at least) crashes on TI-Nspire CX/CM happen in a non-critical code zone. When freezing, you only have to reboot the calculator and the process will go on.

Here you can see a TI-Nspire CM Chinese Edition EVT1 prototype, with Nover 3 boosting the frequency from 132 to 234MHz, meaning a 77.2% performance boost! :bj:
The installation process made only two freezes, thus needing 3 reboots before opting for the 234MHz.

The short story is I bricked my calculator from trying this out and I'm hoping for some help.

The long story is I used this nover to replace the other nover 3 that I had working at safe levels.
After that I restarted, waited a little bit for the new nover to do something.
when nothing happened I entered my zlock passcode and opened the nover file directly.
The settings were as I left them so I raised them to just before nover told me they were dangerous.
I pressed var, enter, and the other option. after I realized my calculator froze I restarted and was taken to a white screen.
I tried restarting a few more times all with the same result, having "pp1234" in the top left corner (what does that mean?) as usual.
during this I also had 3.1 / 3.6 switch installed (on 3.1 at the time)
I'm using a ti-nspire cx cas and last I checked I'm on Boot1 3.0.0.99, Boot2 3.1.0.16
I haven't messed with the Boots at all

I've tried every number combination in maintenance mode and every time i try to install os 3.1 or even 3.2.0.1212 (to then downgrade back) I get the same error "[M7] You cannnot install a version of the OS that is older than the currently installed version."

Please Help!

Check the boot2 version that your calculator is now running, through the Nspire computer software or TILP.
* if your calculator still has boot2 3.1.0.16, just reinstall nLaunchy (it is in the switcher pack), which doesn't care about the anti-downgrade protection.
* if your calculator has 3.2.4.7, then it means that you somehow transferred a recent OS the wrong way, in such a way that the anti-downgrade protection was raised... and you're toast (lest you reflash the boot2 through the RS232 port using extra, if cheap, equipment).

The fact that the anti-downgrade protection was raised is not a direct or indirect effect of Nover.

Modern versions of Nlaunchy overclock the processor when one of the OS 3.2 or 3.6 versions is detected, but that doesn't occur for OS 3.1.

Thanks for the help! I was able to check and I am still on 31016
Whenever I try to 'install os' nlaunch.tcc that I found in the switchpack file, the progress bar gets halfway before i get this error from ComputerLink "Ecperienced a problem while communicating with the handheld. A retry may be successful." and the calculator disconnects from computerlink and instantly goes back to the 'os not found' screen.
A retry has never been successful so far :-(

The installation is partially random, and the tutorial tells to retry if it didn't work.

But before retrying, check that the required files are still present in the calculator 'nlaunch' folder, as some of them are removed during an installation attempt.

ohhh, ok. I didn't think the folders would do anything without ndless being installed after formating the calculator.

IT WORKED! Thank you guys so much! This was the most bizarre problem i've ever had!
