You should be able to launch a Linux image, but you'll need nBoot+ControlX to be able to launch it at boot time, which won't work on your hardware revision W+.
Will the developers try to update the tutorials for hardware revisions W+?
In tiplanet.org , I saw a developer uploaded a tutorial to install the CAS OS in TI Nspire CX, but it needed a Nspire of hardware revision A~I with OS version 3.X. (took from other website)

Recently, in Reddit, a user uploaded a new tutorial that works in recent OS 4.4, but it requires hardware revision V or less.
