O R Z U N O I D 83- The utlimate (?) arkanoid for ION! Programmed by Patrick Davidson Sam Heald (Evil Sam) *THIS VERSION NOW SUPPORTS EXTERNAL LEVELS! MAKE SOME AND SUBMIT THEM TO ME OR WWW.TICALC.ORG!* 1) System requirements - A TI-83(+) ! - ION 2) Controls In-Game Controls <2nd> Release a captured ball, fire lasers New Ball Pause the Game Start the game Exit the Game Save your game at any time! :) (Left-Right) Move (UP when used with left and right) Move slowly Highscore Controls Make a Space Backspace Type in a letter Type in a number 3) Playing the game When you first start OrzuNoid, you are shown the title screen. Select your speed using the top buttons. The gameplay itself is similar to Arkanoid. Once in the game, you use the arrow keys to control the paddle. If you want to move your paddle into a precise position, hold down the up arrow while you move and you will move more slowly. If you want to save the game and exit, press the down arrow. The game will resume where it left off the next time you start Orzunoid. If you have caught a ball, press [2nd] to release it. If the ball gets stuck in an endless loop, you can press [CLEAR] to give up the current life. Press the [MODE] key to exit the game while playing, and the [CLEAR] key to exit anywhere else. Some blocks will drop bonuses when you destroy them. These give you varius things such as extra points, extra lives, or multiple balls. All bonuses are beneficial, so you don't need to worry about collecting something harmful. 3) Bonus blocks 100 points - This piece looks like the number 100. Whenever you collect it, you get 100 points. (never would have guessed, would you?) Multi-ball - This piece looks like three balls next to each other. When you collect it, it splits your main ball into three balls and gives you 25 points. Expander - This piece looks somewhat like <-->. When you collect it, it will increase your paddle's length to twice what it noramlly is. In addition, you get 25 points. If you collect this while you are already expanded, the paddle will stay the same. You should still collect it because you will get 25 points. Extra life - This piece is shaped like a miniature paddle. Can you guess what it does? It gives you an extra life! Guard - This piece is a this solid line. Collecting this puts a barrier across the bottom of the screen which prevents you from losing balls. It can only reflect balls twice, and will go away after that. If you collect another guard while one is already active, the effect is NOT cumulative. However, you always gain 25 points whenever you collect this. Catch - This piece (which looks like a stretched H) allows you to hold the ball after catching it. When you are ready to release it, press the 2nd key. You can catch the ball 2 times for each of thes you collect. You can accumulate more than two catches and always get 25 points for collecting this. Brick-thru - This piece looks like an arrow through a ball. It is probably the most powerful piece in the game. It causes all of your balls to fly straight through all bricks on the screen! This runs out depending on the number of times the ball hits your paddle. You get two hits each time you collect this. If the ball hits your paddle too many times, the brick-thru goes away. You also get 25 points whenver you collect one of these. Laser - This piece looks like 2 X's. This is the ultimate powerup. You get only 15 shots so shoot wisely. But be warned, the lasers powerup is a double-edged sword. In your shooting frenzy, you are liable to lose a few lives out of carelessness. Also be warned that your score will be lower for with every block you destroy with the lasers you only get 1 point. 4) Contacting me (Patrick): WWW - http://pad.calc.org EMail - pad@calc.org Contacting me (Sam): Email: evil_sam@hotmail.com sam@calc.org WWW: http://void.calc.org 5) Future Versions NONE (Hopefully) 6) Thank Yous Mathew Shepcar Jimmy Mardell Andreas Ess Derrick Ward 7) Version history: OrzuNoid 3.0a (1-October-97) - Ported to the TI-82!!! - No external levels - No scrolling on title screen - Everything is narrower, of course :) - Size : 2700 bytes OrzuNoid 3.0b (2-October-97) - Level corrupting bug fixed (I think) - Size : 2732 bytes OrzuNoid 3.1 (16-January-98) - I (Sam) added 12 new levels - I also increased the file size by around 400 bytes - Took away extra life and additional points at level gain. - Added new comments to the source on how to make levels for the game.
