Then in april 2004, I finally finished the english version and released it on the web. RL1 is a RPG (Role Playing Game) where magic and monsters takes place. You have to explore lots of forests, dark caverns and dungeons to collect treasures while fighting many foes. The only difference in this one compared to other TI-calc ones is that it's longer. 3:Story The story is very classic since it was an experimental project to make an anti-ERR:MEMORY game but it will do since most people love Final Fantasy. It's a RPG where you have to save the world. You are in 2011, and there are only 3 000 000 humans left on the earth. The others have been killed by the emperor clones. You have to destroy the emperor and stop the clone production. You'll need a special item. 4:How to play When the game starts, the game will load and you'll see a progress percentage. This is called a failsafe system (everyone who ever played FFTOM2 knows what it is.) Because the game is very sensitive to exiting with ON and many people will unarchive thing that should not, I decided to integrate this routine in the Reign of Legends. This feature attempt to re-archive RL1 files that should be archived. This game uses a lot of archiving and unarchiving. Because archiving and unarchiving fragment the Flash ROM and take more and more time to find enough space to write a prgm in the archive memory, you must garbage collect periodically. It will load faster if the only game you have on your calc is this one ?. If you have a TI-83+, archiving will be faster but you will have more garbage collect messages. After it's finished, a menu with options will appear. Select "NEW GAME" to start a new adventure. In a RPG, you have to explore and fight powerful monsters to get useful treasures and clues. As you fight and gain experience points, you level up and become more powerful. To face more powerful foes, you'll need to fight a lot. Although it's important to fight, you may need to buy artifacts (a mix with items and magic) to heal yourself or defeat monsters faster. 5:Controls Arrows: Moves the team Enter: Enters or exits the menu (-): Idem Digits: Select options in menus. ON: Quit (NEVER EXIT THE GAME DURING THE FAILSAFE LOADING!!!!) 6: Artifacts The Reign of Legends magic system works a bit differently than other RPGs. In RL, items act as magic (artifacts). For example, you can have 30 FIREs and if you use one, the number decrease by 1. You can buy these items in shops and each unit costs an amount of GP. This means that if you run out of FIRE, you can use something else. No more Magic Points required! Note that you can have a maximum of 99 of each kind of artifact. 7: Battles When you walk or talk to someone, you may be engaged in a battle. Be prepared for anything! When it's your character turn, you are prompted to choose between 3 commands: -ATTACK: Attack a monster -ARTIFACT: Use artifacts (each fighters use different ones) -FLEE: Escape from battles. You cannot escape from bosses. Basically, you must keep your HP high to not get killed. Artifacts that resurrect dead members cost A LOT of money. Also bring lot of artifacts with you and don't waste powerful healing artifacts outside of battle. After winning a fight, you can get experience points and when you reach a certain amount, you level up and your stats increase. 8: Menu RL1 menu is divided in two sections: ARTIFACTS and CONDITIONS. -The LIST option shows all sky and hell artifacts you have in your inventory. -The USE option allows you to heal party members. You just have to select an artifact name and then select the character to heal. -RELATIONSHIP???? What the hell is that???? The relationship system act a bit as the one in "Star Ocean: The second story" on Playstation, but in RL1 it's based on battle actions. If you heal a party member, his relationship will rise. Some other events may make it raise. It doesn't have a big impact on the game, but it affect which reward you will get from people and how the game will end. -The STATUS option allows you to see how many exp points you need to level up. You can also view your attack power, your mag power and your relationship. -SAVE is to save the game. You can choose one of the two save files. 9: Features -English and French version -100% Canadian Qu bec -Not one of these stupid menu-based games -semi-real-time battle (3 vs. 3) -Magics (ala Final Fantasy VIII) -World map -tile map engine -menu -18 to 25 hours of gameplay (this is not my largest rpg.) -Dialogs -Animations -Magic Feed-back (a.k.a. New Game + in Chrono Trigger) -Multiple Endings -and more... 10: Bugs -The game has nearly 70 sub-routines (programs) so it will not work properly with OS 1.13. This OS crashes with over 50 programs in the PRGM menu. Make sure you have the OS 1.14 or higher. -If you level up in battle, a "S" will remain on the screen. Just ignore it, it only happens in the English version. -If you get an ERR:ARCHIVED when starting the game, press 2nd once then ENTER twice. It's because Zflash is in beta stage and has problems checking Ans variable. I integrated a routine that check if Zflash is currently working so you'll not get others errors while playing. Avoid exiting the game during the Failsafe (The loading at the game beginning) because the calculator will not be able to check if Zflash is working. 11: Special thanks -Joe Pemberton for ZFLASH (although this is not the best program). Without that RL1 and RL2 would have never existed. 12:Disclaimers -If you decide to upload this game to your website download section or use the source code, you MUST mention me -And remember that I'm not responsible for any damage caused to your calculator.
