Program: Super Mario Land 1 (Mario Level) Author: Andy Kay E-mail: andrewrocks2003@yahoo.com Version: v1.3 System: TI-83+ ------------------------------------------------ I DESCRIPTION: This now includes all the levels of the original version, but there are now two versions: one for Mario 1.2, and another for Mario 2.0. This was done so that each version would have less glitches, as well as be more suited to its gameplay. As in the original version, it isn't boring, but it isn't jam-packed with enemies, either, making game play crisp and smooth. Includes a walkthrough of every single zone, difficult spots and hidden areas, as well as a storyline and zone names! ------------------------------------------------ II INSTALLATION: 1) Have Super Mario 1.2 or 2.0, and the proper shell(s) to run it. 2) Depending on the Super Mario version you have, send smland1-v2.0.8xp for version 2.0, or smland1-v1.2.8xp for version 1.2. It is highly recommended that you do NOT send the wrong version to your calculator, or there may be glitches. 3) Run Super Mario and choose The Super Mario Land. ------------------------------------------------ III STORY Bowser has kidnapped Princess Peach and hidden her in his castle. It's up to Mario to follow Bowser through the lands and obstacles and rescue her in one piece. ------------------------------------------------ IV GAME HELP NOTE: in both versions, all the levels are nearly the same, except for a few small changes. For example, in version 1.2, there are no fish, or falling doughnut blocks. ZONE 1: Donut Plains Level Type: Block There is a Super Mushroom right in the beginning. After the music blocks, there is a 1-Up Mushroom in one of the three blocks there. After the piranhas, jump on the koopa and hit his shell right to uncover a secret area, which wields a power-up (which can only be gotten if you are tiny). After the next set of music blocks, hit the box for another power-up. If it is a flower, hold down 2nd, jump on the flying paratroopa and jump up onto the block to get it. ZONE 2: Chocolate Caverns Level Type: Dungeon When you reach the Thwomp, go just under him to lure him down go back left out of his way, and run though as he is going back up. Soon after is a power-up, and after the two Thomps there is a 1-Up Mushroom. At the Goomba pit, you can go through, or use the platform to go over them. When the passage splits into three paths, go to one of the top two for a power-up. After that, you'll go back outside to the Finish Bar. ZONE 3: Koopa Forest Level Type: Forest There's another power-up right at the beginning. If you're tiny, you can jump high off of the paratroopa and enter an area with a 1-Up Mushroom. After the platforms, you'll come across blocks that fall after you step on them. Quickly jump onto the two underneath the ? box, and then hit the box for a power-up. Quickly make your way across the next area, and when you reach the 3 trees with the coins, hit the ? box for an Invincibility Star. Then the ladder and the Finish Bar. ZONE 4: Block City Level Type: Giant Block Soon into this level, jump off the paratroopa to land on a tree with an extra life. When you encounter the ? block on the ground, knock the nearby koopa and his shell into it, revealing another power-up. When you reach the Finish Bar, jump onto the ? boxes at the top to enter yet another secret area, this one yielding another power-up, coins, and a 2nd Finish Bar. ZONE 5: Rock Tunnel Level Type: Dungeon Lure the two Thwomps as you did the ones in Zone 2. Then there is a block with a power-up, but you can only reach it if it's a Super Mushroom. When you reach the three paths, take the lower for 3 coins, or the middle for an Invincibility Star. Then, there's a ? box that you can only reach it you are tiny. Then you'll encounter several Goombas, and a power-up box. If you are lazy, jump to the top of the screen for an easy way through the next area. If you're not, go through the Thwomp, Fireballs, and then hit the ? box for another extra life. Then, two Thwomps, and the Finish Bar. ZONE 6: Sherbert River Level Type: Shallow Water There are some fish here (2.0 only), which probably will be no threat. If you do end up in water, hold down 2nd to try and jump back out (2.0 only). There's a power-up, followed by music blocks and jumping fish. Then there's another power-up, with a Bullet Bill Cannon nearby. If you're playing version 2.0 of Super Mario, try ducking to avoid them. Then there are enemies, jumping fish, and finally an Invincibility Star, followed by a extra life ? box. Then some more jumping fish, and the Finish Bar. ZONE 7: Bullet Zone Level Type: Wooden There's not much to this zone, except for lots and lots of Bullets coming from all directions. Just go through this area, which later has a power-up block. Then, use the music notes, hold down 2nd, and jump over the high Cannon. At the end is another power-up, which prepares you for... ZONE 8: Bowser's Castle Level Type: Dungeon The wave of enemies at the beginning may look bad, but it really isn't. This level is basically review of all the puzzles and enemies you've faced, and then some. After the falling block area (2.0 only) is a power-up block. If it's a flower, jump onto the pipe, then the block to get it. Then are some Fireballs. After is another falling block (2.0 only). Quickly jump onto it, then hit the block for yet another power-up. If it fell too fast, or have Mario 1.2, you can also reach it by jumping off the paratroopa. Then are two Thwomps, and a third, right over a pit to jump. What to do? Lure it down, and it will fall into the pit and be gone forever! Ha! Then are some more paratroopas, followed by several bullet cannons. Then, at last, is a bridge, with Bowser on it. Simply run under him and hit the Finish Bar, and you're done! ------------------------------------------------ V FAQ Q: How do I do a high jump? A: Simply hold down 2nd when jumping off of an enemy or music note. Q: There's an area I can't access. Why? A: Almost all areas can be accessed. Some are only small enough for tiny Mario, so beginners will still be able to recover from being shrunk. Q: It won't recognize the level. A: Like all SM levels, try archiving it, or unarchiving it. ------------------------------------------------ VI Other Info Koopa Forest was origionally called Troopa Trees. Block World used to be Block City. Sherbert River used to be a nighttime tree-only level called Black Forest.
